FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions What are your office business hours? My office is open M-F from 10am-6pm Monday through Friday. Messages via email are a great way to contact me, especially after hours. Will I have the same person each time? For daily dog walking clients, yes, the same person will arrive each day to walk your dog, if they are out or sick it is our policy to send a fill-in who you may not have met before. As for sporadic clients I will try my best but cannot guarantee the same person, but I would have another of our qualified staff take care of your pet(s). What type of animals do you care for? Most of the requests I get are by dog and cat owners, but I also take care of birds, horses, fish, guinea pigs, hamsters, and reptiles. Just ask and I will certainly try to accommodate you. Once I am a client, how far in advance do I need to book services? Depends on what type of service you use. For sporadic pet sitting/holiday clients I start booking 1 month before the holiday and fill up quickly. As for non-holiday times of the year or daily dog walking clients generally 4-5 days at least but the more notice you can give the better. What area do you service? I service the Charleston area including Folly Beach, James Island, Johns Island, Daniel Island, West Ashley, Mt. Pleasant, Isle of Palms, Sullivan’s Island and downtown areas. How long does a typical pet visit last? A typical visit will last up to 30 minutes, unless you requested the in home overnight visit. How many times will you come to my house? This will depend on the type of pet and its specific needs. I will discuss the best option for your pet at the initial consultation. Do you offer overnight visits at my house? Yes. Based on availability. Do you offer dog boarding/daycare? I offer dog day care and dog and cat overnight boarding in my personal residence on James Island based on availability. Do you give medications to pets? I have given pills, ointments, and shots to our client’s pets in the past. Do my pets need to be vaccinated? Yes. All pets must have current vaccinations and flea treatment along with a copy of current veterinary records. What is your key policy? I require 2 copies of your house key at the time of service. Your keys will be assigned a number with a tag, where no personal information is listed for your protection. I prefer to keep the copies of your keys at my home for future services. There will be a key return fee of $10 should you request I return the keys at the conclusion of the services rendered for that time. Are you licensed and insured? Yes. Upon request I can provide proof insurance. How much notice for cancellation do you need? At least 24 hours for non holidays and 7 days notice from date of your first visit for Easter, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve, New Year’s Day holidays. Holiday services will require a 50% deposit at the time of booking. A seven day cancellation notice is required for the 50% deposit to be refunded. Additional fees will apply for holidays. What if I have an emergency and I have to leave town unexpectedly? In most cases I require a minimum of 48 hours to schedule a service for new clients. However, I will still consider your pet, but cannot guarantee. What forms of payment do you accept? Checks & Cash (Visa & MasterCard coming soon). How will I know how my pets are doing when I am gone? I can stay in touch with clients via text messages or can leave messages on home voicemails; just let me know what you prefer. Do I have to sign a contract? Yes, I need a signed statement that you agree to let us into your home as well as your pets allowed into my home. The release forms must be signed in order for me to care for your pets and in that you are aware of and agree to Dawg Tired and Cat Naps Too policies/procedures. How am I billed and when is it due? Payment is due prior to services rendered. Do you have references you can provide? Absolutely, just ask and I will provide them. Please also see my testimonial section.
