ABOUT US...

Welcome and thank you for visiting Dawg Tired & Cat Naps Too. My name is Gray Moore, the owner of Dawg Tired and Cat Naps Too. I live locally in Charleston, SC. I have a Jack Russell terrier named Stella, a lab mix named Buddy, and a 50 gallon fish tank with angelfish. I graduated from Park University in Parkville, Missouri, in 2002 with a biology degree. As a fellow animal lover, I know and understand the importance of proper pet care and the daily exercise of your pets. I understand and empathize with pet owners when they have to leave their loved ones behind. I will provide great care, love, and affection while you are away as I would for my own pets, providing you peace of mind.

I grew up on a 300 acre farm in the countryside of Greenwood, SC. Growing up, I didn’t have many neighbors to play with and was also the youngest of three siblings. With that being said, I found myself around the farm animals every day. From horses, goats, a lamb, dogs, cats, guinea pigs, hamsters, fish, turtles, rabbits and even a pet pig named Pookie, I spent my days loving and playing with this menagerie of pets that I learned so much from. My Mom and I bred Jack Russell terriers and took them to JR shows, where Bess & I ran the agility course and won! During middle and high school, I rode and trained thoroughbred horses. I showed horses in competitions all over the south, where I won all of my divisions including hunter jumper and flat courses in 1995 with my horse Eloquent Ghost. I had trained and showed him since he was 3 years old.

Additionally, I was the President of the 4-H Horse and Vet Science Club in Greenwood, SC, where our team competed in local and state competitions. In high school my family and friends knew of my love of animals and wild life. Whenever an injured or orphaned animal was found, they would bring it to me. I raised a baby opossum & squirrel with a medicine dropper, which were later released back into the wild. I even nursed an injured hawk back to health which was also released. In college I was a volunteer at the Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia, SC, where I prepared the daily meals for the training sessions with the seals and sea lions while the public watched. I also volunteered with Carolina Wildlife Care in Columbia, SC, for 2 years where I assisted in the rehabilitation and release of injured and orphaned wildlife. Additionally, I volunteered for 2nd Chance Pet Adoption in Kansas City, KS, where I walked and played with dogs and cats in need of adoption.

With a lifetime of experience with a variety of pets & animals, your pets will be in great hands while you are on vacation or at work. Please feel free to ask me any specific questions in regards to the care of your beloved pets.
